Lego reveals NASA Artemis rocket and Milky Way sets coming in May.

Fans of space travel, get ready as Lego is preparing to release two new sets that will transport you from the moon to the edge of the Milky Way.

The new Lego Icons NASA Artemis Space Launch System and Lego Art The Milky Way Galaxy sets were unveiled by the toy maker on Thursday, April 25. Both will be available for purchase on May 15.

These two new construction kits are intended to keep adult Lego lovers busy. They include everything needed to build a precise size model of NASA’s new moon rocket, complete with launch platform and support tower, as well as pieces for assembling our home galaxy.

According to a press statement from the Danish toy business, “Today the Lego Group unveils two new sets that allow space enthusiasts to go out of this world, by exploring the art of engineering excellence behind the human space missions to get a glimpse of what’s out there.”

The Icons of Lego The two solid-fuel boosters on the multi-stage rocket and the intricate mobile launch tower with retractable umbilicals and a crew access arm are also parts of the NASA Artemis Space Launch System. Additionally, it has an Orion spacecraft and European service module that were launched on the Artemis I mission, which may be exhibited independently or on top of the SLS.

The rocket and tower combine to create a desktop model in 1:144 scale that is almost 2 feet (70 centimeters) tall when assembled. The set comes with a printed plaque that provides information about the SLS and Orion, however it does not include minifigures or scale models.

Both the Lego Art The Milky Way Galaxy and Lego Icons NASA Artemis Space Launch sets add to Lego’s still-growing product line for this year, with “Space”-branded kits spanning all of the company’s themes, from Lego City and Lego Technic to Lego Friends and Lego DreamZzz. Even the next Lego Minifigures Series, coming out on May 1, centers on space, with astronauts and spacemen included.

With the products coming in May, Lego Space-theme sets released in 2024 will number more than 20.

The Space Launch System and Milky Way will be available to order for members of Lego Insiders, the company’s loyalty program, on May 15. The sets will then be released for sale to all both online and at Lego Stores beginning on May 18.
